Pt. Reyes

The California Art Club hosted a gathering of artists at Pt. Reyes last weekend. A large group stayed at the hostel near Limantour Beach. The weather was warm and clear, with some great semi-foggy morning light to work in. All images are pastel on Canson paper. More notes to come.

Fantastic! Very atmospheric. You inspire me to try more pastel sketches. You make it look so easy.

Thanks Sponie. Pt. Reyes, and the great weather get the credit. It was a treat to be in a place like that. On 2 mornings we had atmosphere in less than 50 feet, and still had direct sunlight. Transient, but it stuck around long enough to paint it.

Each of your new posts is eagerley awaited by this correspondent - and they never fail to impress and thrill. Your control of light and atmosphere in what I consider to be an impossible medium is quite breathtaking.
Looking at the paintings there's an almost perceptable sense of the day's progression; each work as such a real but diferent sense of light - magical!

I was at San Jose State University listening your speech today. Even though I heard it two or three years ago, still very inspiring. Especially your paintings. Thanks :-)
